Conservative radio blowhard Rush Limbaugh, 59, is taking a fourth stab at marriage with a weekend wedding to Kathryn Rogers, 33, an events coordinator 26 years his junior… and will presumably continue to crusade against gay marriage in defense of the sanctity of traditional marriage without even sensing the irony

No. Don’t see the irony.
Marriage as a state interest is about children; Great Britain, because religion is state supported there, had no statutes pertaining to it until the rise of the welfare state towards the mid-20th century.
If gays REALLY want the right to marry the same sex – and my gay cousin through 20 years of partnership does not – HAVE CHILDREN!
Then it will be in society’s interest to see family lay applied to them too.

It turns out that both Rush and Sir Elton support civil unions.
Columnist Deroy Murdock writes:”Sir Elton, 63, also favors civil unions rather than gay nuptials. ‘Heterosexual people get married,’ he told USA Today in November 2008. ‘We can have civil partnerships.’ Since 2005, Sir Elton has been civil partners with David Furnish, 47.”

Murdock goes on to illustrate the real divide between the Left and the Right in American: as Dr. Pat Santy – recently retired as a University of Michigan Medical School clinical professor of psychiatry – the former is engaged in psychotic denial of reality, while the latter is neurotically annoyed by it.
